Raymond Savignac

After seeing Dave’s cool Savignac print contest, I decided to check into the availability of Raymond’s work. Lucky enough, I stumbled upon Art.com, where they have a nice chunk of affordable prints.

Oh, check out Dave & Liz’s pad. Mid-century greatness.

Neutra Moves On

Richard Neutra’s Maxwell house (built in 1941 for $6,750) recently moved from Brentwood to Angelino Heights.

LA Times: “Saving the house has become a labor of love — some say obsession — of the owner, developer Barbara Behm, who does business under the name Princess Bovlana. She plans to restore the house “from top to bottom, and everything in between,” before selling it.”

See the amazing pictures here. Many thanks to Barbara for realizing this home was worth saving – can’t wait to see it finished.

Holga Lotta Love

We just finished the artwork for the new Copeland record “You Are My Sunshine” and the above images are samples from the CD booklet. Good friend and Tooth & Nail A&R guru Jeff Carver shot the beautiful Holga photographs. The record is available in regular and special editions. The special edition includes lots of extra goodies and we had a lot of fun putting it together. Oh, and the music itself is phenomenal. Can’t… stop… listening…

Modern Garbage

If Bruce Wayne owned a garbage truck, it would look like this.

New Machine

Just got a new machine, so we’ll be back up and running shortly.

Dollhouse

In another chapter of my “House Industries Continues To Do No Wrong” book, Andy Cruz (who is currently guest-blogging over at Dwell) just unleashed this ridiculously cool dollhouse, promoting their new typeface, Studio Swing. Just stupid awesome.

Four Arm Tattoo

A friend just sent me this picture of a Norma Jean fan that decided to get a portion of the artwork we created for the band’s “O’ God, The Aftermath” record tattooed on their side. I’m not sure who did the tattoo, but it looks like pretty nice work. And the ribs are no joke (just recently had mine done), so kudos to this dude for withstanding such a large piece.

The Archive

The Archive is a great (and very well done) little documentary on Paul Mawhinney, owner of the world’s largest record collection. You may need to dry a tear or two.

The Batmobile Can Be Yours

The Batmobile from Batman Returns movie is being auctioned off at the 38th annual Kruse International Auction, which will be held on Labor Day weekend (August 28, 29, 30, 31, September 1 & 2 at the 480 acre Kruse Auction Park) in Auburn, Indiana. The car is # 3 of 5 Batmobiles actually used in the BATMAN RETURNS MOVIE.

Keep in mind that Batmobiles have sold for as much as $550,000 in the past, which means owning one is definitely attainable.

Design Actually Within Reach

DWR House Numbers are 50% off at the moment, which means you can have the coolest door in your apartment complex or dorm for only $40.

Mark Romanek

My favorite video director Mark Romanek has a brand new site.

Brian Posehn & Judah Friedlander

Here’s our poster for the upcoming Brian Posehn and Judah Friedlander comedy show coming to The Moore theatre on Halloween. If you have a television, internet connection or have been to a movie in the last 10 years, you’ve seen these guys – and have laughed – really loud.

The Lonely King

Just finished a poster for the upcoming Kings Of Leon shows in Seattle and Portland. After rocking the tar out of their new single, I got inspired to go all-out and illustrate something with a lot of detail. We may never know what majesty our lonely bum-king has found in that tower, but I imagine it’s breath-taking.

Steve Schofield

Steve Schofield’s Land Of The Free gallery is making my morning just right. Brilliant.

Something Anything

Keeping with our morning theme of bands east of the Atlantic, here’s the new video from Glasgow’s favorite sons: Something Anything. Is it just me, or is Fran getting more and more gray with each album? Who cares. 40 is the new 20.

Ode To J. Smith is out 9/29.

Falling Down

God bless the boys from Manchester. Falling Down is taken from the new album Dig Out Your Soul, out 10/7. It can’t come soon enough. In my ‘top ten bands of all time’ list? Yessir.

Small Paul Furniture

Got kids? I do. And I dig cool kids toys. Small Paul furniture by 10 Grain. Not expensive, but not cheap. Face it, you’d rather have this stuff all over the house instead of this.

Build Bob Staake’s Studio

Now you too can build Bob Staake’s amazing little Cape Cod studio – complete with cupola!

See the uber-cool real thing here.

Cyanide

Metallica playing their new track Cyanide at Ozzfest. No explanation necessary.

Draw Like Mike

Mike Giant teamed up with Sharpie® to create his very own signature model pen. Mike has been using sharpie’s to create amazing artwork for years, so it only seems right. Kudos to the folks at Sharpie® for recognizing great talent and not being afraid to endorse a “graffiti artist”.
