And Then…

Here’s a cover we recently finished up for Tooth & Nail newcomers, And Then There Were None. The theme of the artwork is based on a gold disc that was sent into space on the Voyager 2 in 1977. The disc (clearly not a CD like shown on the cover- we know) contained various files depicting life on earth- in the event that an extra-terrestrial being might happen across it.

When I saw it, it made me think of the book cover to an old Tom Swift book like Tom Swift and the Space Solortron.

My band and I used to be really good friends with these guys when they were a metal band. It’s really bizarre and awesome to see them getting huge and now one of my favorite album artists doing work for their debut CD. We wish them all the luck in the world, and hope to once again bump into them.

That is beautiful illustration. You should post more about your process from an art perspective!

The Golden Record has fascinated me since I was a kid. It’s too bad none of us will be around when/if that little speck is ever found by intelligent life. Heck, planet Earth probably won’t even be around when it leaves our solar system.

Hey, excellent cover Mr Ryan! I’ll end up buying the album just for the art, doesn’t hurt that the band sounds promising. Is that a custom typeface? Your typography is always amazing. Thanks for posting!
